WLI has been in
operation since may 2002. The students represent
several different nationalities, such as Japanese,
Korean, Mexican, Taiwanese, Chinese, Swiss,
Italian and Turkish.
Also WLI has a transfer agreement between
themselves and Vancouver Career College. Once
a student reaches level 5, he/ she is able
to transfer to Vancouver Career College to
take a Diploma or Certificate Program in Business,
High-Tech or Health Care.
WLI just opened a new course from Nov 15,2004,
“Study & Work Program” WLI
and BCIT have started this course for international
students who wish to stay in Canada to get
a job. The student will have full support
from BCIT. |
At first students
will take a general English Program at WLI
for 8 weeks, then 16weeks of business English
at WLI and finally 16 weeks of Business skills
at BCIT. After successfully completing this
Course, students are eligible to apply for
a post graduate work permit. BCIT will support
your employment application and Issue your
work permit.
At WLI they have a general English program.
This course held in the morning to learn integrated
skills such as grammar, listening, conversation,
pronunciation and writing students will learn
every thing necessary to improve their English.
In the afternoon, students will have some
choices between, TOEIC, TOEFL, Business, Academic
English and Conversation. Each student has
their own file and every teacher will evaluate
and give some feedback to their files. Students
will have an interview with a teacher once
a month to determine next months courses,
and to discuss their weak points. This is
very useful to students. The Cambridge FCE&CAE
Programs are not common for Japanese students
but these are some of the famous courses at
WLI.
A particular instructor is famous for the
Cambridge program and students are looking
for this specific instructor to take the Cambridge
course. FCE & CAE include oral skills
so if you want to improve your English, this
course might be a good option. At WLI there
is the Business English, internship Program
and they offer a teaching English to Children
Diploma as well.
If you are not only studying General English
or if you wish to study English plus something
else of value, WLI would be a good choice
for you.
